Moons

28 Apr 2012 12:15:30 (Europe/Stockholm) | In: Space

The line of light that travels across this image is the trace of Earth's largest artificial moon, the International Space Station. Right next to it (in the image, not in reality) is the largest natural moon, having recently ended its New Moon-phase.

To the bottom left of the ISS is Jupiter clearly visible, and if the photo is inspected closely, one can see the faint glow of some of Jupiter's own, Galilean, moons.

This video is a supercut of several speeches by Dr. Tyson regarding the importance and current underfunding of NASA.

This Flash animation by Cary and Michael Huang displays in an easy just how incredibly tiny the foundations of our universe are, and how unfathomably large constructs they build. It sure brings some perspective.
